By Soni Daniel Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Nigeria has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the country’s economic growth and development, expressing confidence in Nigeria’s future and pledging to sustain responsible business practices. The company, which said it had operated in Nigeria for 18 years, maintained that its continued presence reflected its confidence in the country’s economic prospects and commitment to creating sustainable value for its stakeholders. The General Manager of JTI Nigeria, Abdallah Simba, stated this while reflecting on Nigeria’s development journey and the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

Simba said Nigeria remained an important market for the company, adding that its continued operations demonstrated confidence in the country’s long-term potential. He said JTI’s business philosophy prioritised responsible corporate conduct, regulatory compliance, employee development and constructive engagement with stakeholders. “Our commitment to Nigeria goes beyond our business operations.

As Nigeria celebrates the important milestone of its 66th independence, we recognise the importance of building a responsible and sustainable enterprise that contributes positively to the country’s development while creating long-term value for our employees, partners and stakeholders,” Simba said. He explained that the company’s operations were guided by corporate governance standards, ethical business practices and respect for the country’s regulatory framework. Simba also highlighted JTI Nigeria’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace through professional development, diversity, equal opportunities and a culture of mutual respect.

According to him, responsible corporate citizenship is essential to building sustainable businesses, particularly in highly regulated industries where compliance, transparency and accountability are critical. As Nigeria navigates an evolving economic environment, Simba expressed confidence in the country’s resilience and its capacity to create opportunities for sustainable business growth. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining its presence in Nigeria, strengthening stakeholder relationships and contributing to the country’s long-term economic aspirations.
