Judge formally dismisses Reflecting Pool charge against Olympian

On Thursday in Washington, D.C., a local judge formally dismissed a felony vandalism charge against Olympic canoeist David Hearn. The charge stemmed from an incident involving the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. D.C. Superior Court Judge Todd Edelman acted after U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro decided to back away from the case.

While the primary felony charge has been formally dropped, the legal proceedings have not entirely concluded. Judge Edelman is scheduled to decide at a later date whether prosecutors will be permitted to pursue further action regarding the remaining aspects of the case.
