An appeals court has ruled that a federal judge lacked the legal authority to overturn the military conviction of former U.S. Army soldier Bowe Bergdahl.
Bergdahl was previously convicted by a military court for deserting his post in Afghanistan. Following his desertion, he was abducted by Taliban-allied forces and held captive for nearly five years before his release.
