The Police Command in Osun has released the state Commissioner for Environment, Mr Mayowa Anjorin, arrested over alleged shooting at a political procession in Ilesa on Saturday.The spokesperson for the command, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the release to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday.Ojelabi said: “The commissioner has been released. He was released around 1.00 p.m on bail.“The Amotekun operative arrested alongside the commissioner and the gun found with him (the Amotekun operative) are still with us.“However, investigation is still ongoing on the matter.”NAN reports that the police arrested Anjorin over alleged shooting, which took place at a political procession in Ilesa.According to a statement by Ojelabi, suspected armed men, in a government vehicle, allegedly alighted and fired into the vicinity of an ongoing political procession in Ilesa.He added that the armed men were reportedly dressed as personnel of the Osun State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps.He said three persons sustained gunshot injuries during the incident and that they were taken to the hospital for medical attention. By Shina Abubakar, Osogbo OSOGBO — The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the release of the State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Mr Moyowa Adejoorin, who was arrested following a shooting incident at an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Ilesa. Adejoorin was arrested following the shooting at the APC rally on Saturday, during which four persons were reportedly injured, including a teenager, Tobi Ilesanmi. The police spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said Adejoorin was arrested after the scene was cordoned off, adding that his vehicle was stopped at the scene with an Amotekun personnel who was allegedly involved in the shooting.
Ojelabi said, “Immediately the incident was reported, our personnel moved to the scene and cordoned off the area before some exhibits were recovered, which included expended cartridges and Amotekun personnel caps. “Also, Mr Adejoorin was arrested at the scene and taken to the command for questioning as part of the investigation process.” However, a video surfaced on social media on Sunday showing the commissioner leaving the police command. Speaking with Vanguard, Ojelabi confirmed that Adejoorin had been released but said he could not provide an update on the Amotekun personnel arrested alongside him.
