Kamila Andini Says Anger Is ‘Liberating’ as She Brings Furious ‘Four Seasons in Java’ to Toronto

Director Kamila Andini has brought her fifth feature film, titled "Four Seasons in Java," to the Toronto International Film Festival. The project marks Andini's third appearance at the festival, following her previous acclaimed works "The Seen and the Unseen" in 2017 and "Yuni" in 2021.

Described as a furious work, the film centers on a character named Pertiwi. While discussing the project, Andini stated that she views anger as "liberating."

Andini's return to Toronto builds on her previous success at the event, where her 2018 film "Yuni" won the Platform Prize and subsequently served as Indonesia's official entry for the Academy Awards.
