During the early hours of Monday, Hurricane Karina intensified into a category 4 storm in the Pacific Ocean, featuring maximum sustained winds of 230 kilometers per hour (145 mph) and a minimum central pressure of 942 millibars.

According to the official advisory from the National Hurricane Center, the severe weather system remains far away from mainland areas.
