In a separate political development across the Andes, the Chilean government reinstated the office of the first lady. The institution, which had been eliminated during the administration of former President Gabriel Boric four years prior, was restored to provide institutional support and assign official functions to Pía Adriasola, the wife of President José Antonio Kast.
