Kast welcomes the acquittal of the police officer who shot an iconic victim of the protests in Chile

On August 4, the Chilean Court of Appeals ratified the acquittal of former police officer Claudio Crespo. Crespo had been accused of firing the shots that blinded psychologist Gustavo Gatica during the social unrest in Chile.

Following the court's decision, President José Antonio Kast publicly expressed his support for the ruling. The case remains a significant point of reference regarding the legal proceedings surrounding the 2019 social protests.
