Beshear challenges Jennings, CNN to call McConnell live on air: ‘Put all the speculation to rest’

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear on Tuesday challenged CNN and contributor Scott Jennings to call U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell live on air to prove the lawmaker is alive and well. The challenge follows McConnell's absence from Congress for more than 40 days following a medical emergency that began after a July 7 social media post.

In addition to calling out CNN and Jennings, Beshear challenged Senate Majority Leader John Thune to help end the mystery surrounding McConnell's status. Beshear stated that Thune has a responsibility to ensure that all members of the Senate are actually able to serve in their positions.

The developments have fueled widespread speculation regarding McConnell's health and his ability to continue representing Kentucky. Beshear's public challenge aims to put all the speculation to rest by demanding direct, real-time proof of the senator's condition.
