KFC Jamaica advises customers of lettuce shortage due to drought

KFC Jamaica says production challenges being faced by its sole vegetable supplier has resulted in a shortage of lettuce at the restaurant. In an advisory to customers on Monday, the fast food giant said the challenges being faced by its supplier is due to the ongoing drought impacting Jamaica. "Therefore, the availability of lettuce in certain meals will be temporarily impacted," the restaurant said in a post on social media.

"We apologise for the inconvenience this causes and thank you for your patience as we work with our supplier to resolve this issue as quickly as we can," the restaurant added. Jamaica is grappling with prolonged drought conditions driven by the El Niño weather pattern which has suppressed local rainfall and caused temperatures to soar. The dry conditions have severely affected farmers and have contributed to an estimated 15 per cent decline in agricultural production.
