Khalida Boufedeche elected as Algeria's first woman parliamentary speaker

Khalida Boufedeche was elected as the speaker of Algeria's parliament on Wednesday, marking the first time a woman has held the position in the country’s history. A trained allergist representing Algiers, Boufedeche is a member of the central committee of the ruling National Liberation Front.
