KIGOMA: KIGOMA Regional Commissioner Ambassador Simon Sirro has directed local government authorities to strengthen the use of residents’ registers to identify and curb illegal immigration in the region. The directive aims to help authorities detect foreign nationals entering, residing and working in Kigoma without complying with Tanzania’s immigration laws. Speaking during council meetings held in separate occasions in the region, Ambassador Sirro instructed hamlet, village and street leaders to keep residents’ registers up to date and work closely with councillors to identify and report people living in their areas illegally.
He said the government, through security and law enforcement agencies, will continue conducting operations to arrest foreign nationals residing in the region unlawfully. The RC warned that legal action will also be taken against individuals who harbour or employ foreign nationals without complying with immigration laws. Their air tickets have been sponsored by Prophet Sanga of the Power of God Family Ministry. The reunion follows a public appeal issued by the High Commission on February 27, 2026, seeking information on the relatives of Leah Samwel Robinson. The search eventually led to the successful identification of Ms Mkasa in South Africa.
“The Embassy wishes the mother and daughter a safe journey and a long and happy life together,” the statement said.
