Kingston men charged following robbery in Portmore

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Two men have been arrested and charged with robbery with aggravation, possession of prohibited weapon, using a firearm to commit a felony and conspiracy in connection with a robbery at a bus stop in Greater Portmore, St Catherine, on Wednesday, July 22. They have been identified as 25-year-old Daquan Bruce, of Shortwood Road, Kingston, and 28-year-old Randy May, of Cockburn Avenue, Kingston 11. Reports from the Portmore police are that about 12:45 pm, a woman was standing at the bus stop when she was approached by Bruce and May, who allegedly claimed that she resembled someone who had killed a man’s daughter.

The men reportedly instructed the woman to hand over her cellular phone. One of the men allegedly showed her a firearm in his waistband; fearing for her life, she complied and handed over the phone, after which the men reportedly fled the area. Bruce and May were later apprehended by the police in Half -Way Tree.

Both men were positively identified during an identification parade and subsequently charged. Their court appearance is being finalised.
