NewzA Facebook Marketplace sale went wrong in North Miami on Friday.According to an arrest report, Cornelius Douglas, 26, posed as a buyer for a $2,200 Cuban link chain.Police said that when he met up with the seller off Northwest 15th Avenue, Douglas showed the victim a fake Cash App payment confirmation.“The victim then placed the chain around the defendant’s neck, believing he was already paid. The defendant asked the victim to record video of him on his phone wearing the chain,” the report states.After that, he ran off with it, and it was then that the victim realized the payment was fake.Douglas was later identified in a photo lineup.According to North Miami police, Douglas did the same thing back in June.The report says he contacted a seller on Facebook for an Audemars Piguet watch. Police said he did the same thing and ran off with the watch.Police said “he sold the watch to a pawn shop for $300.”Local 10 News checked into Douglas’ background and found he has a criminal history, including a child abuse charge in Broward County.
He has since been released on bond and is facing a grand theft charge.Police recommend that if you are buying something online, you meet in a public place. A South Florida homeless man is facing charges after allegedly threatening customers and a manager at a Denny’s restaurant.It happened on Thursday at the Denny’s located at 650 N. According to the Margate Police Department, officers responded to the restaurant after receiving reports of a man making threats with a knife. Upon arrival, officers detained the suspect, who was later identified as Robert Henion.
Witnesses told investigators that Henion entered the restaurant and began pacing back and forth near a table of people who were eating, and when someone asked him to sit down, he “brandished a knife, raised it, pointed it at them” and then threatened to kill them, according to an arrest report.When a manager of the restaurant was alerted to the situation, she told Henion to leave while calling 911, but police said he then put the knife down and told her to get off the phone because he was going to rape her, the report stated. Henion is facing two charges of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony. As of Monday afternoon, he remained behind bars at the Broward Main Jail on a $10,000 bond.
