WESTMORELAND, Jamaica —Knockalva Technical failed to claim a share of second place in Zone B of the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition after they were held 1-1 by out-of- contention Petersfield High in their rescheduled game played at Petersfield Community Centre on Wednesday. A win would have seen Knockalva Technical join Rusea’s High on 12 points, but they were forced to settle for a point each in the game that saw both teams finish the game with 10 players after a player from each team was sent off during a second-half melee. Frome Technical leads Zone B with 13 points, one more than Rusea’s High with Knockalva Technical on 10 points and Green Island on nine points, all with one game in hand.
The top two teams from each of the nine first-round zones, as well as the three best third-placed teams will qualify for the second round of the competition Nine teams have already booked their spots— Irwin High, St James High, Ferncourt High, Brown's Town High, Munro College, Knox College, Yallahs High, St Mary High and Titchfield High.
