The death toll from the Japanese earthquake has risen to 38, with thousands of residents still displaced.

A powerful earthquake in the Kumamoto Prefecture of southwestern Japan has resulted in 38 confirmed fatalities. The disaster occurred last week, triggering ongoing emergency response efforts across the affected region.

In response to the displacement caused by the tremors, authorities have established 210 evacuation centers. These facilities are currently providing shelter to more than 9,200 residents who remain unable to return to their homes.
