In June 2021, the Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, stated that studies for the road would commence the following year, yet the project has not moved beyond these initial announcements over the subsequent five years and several months.

The lack of development leaves the infrastructure project as an unfulfilled commitment. The delay highlights a significant gap between the government's stated timelines and the actual implementation of the highway, which was intended to connect the two regions.
