More than five years have passed since the initial announcement regarding the San Pedro de Macorís to Miches highway project in the Dominican Republic. In June 2021, the then-Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, stated that feasibility studies for the construction would begin the following year.

Despite the timeline provided by the former official, the highway project remains unrealized and is still confined to public announcements. Miches, previously noted for generating news primarily under specific circumstances, continues to await the infrastructure development originally promised.
