The proposed construction of the San Pedro de Macorís-Miches highway remains in the planning phase years after its initial announcement. In June 2021, the Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, stated that studies for the project would commence the following year.

Despite the timeline provided by the Ministry of Public Works, the project has not progressed beyond the announcement stage. Over five years have elapsed since the initial commitment, leaving the infrastructure development for the Miches region in a state of stagnation.
