More than five years have passed since the initial announcement regarding the San Pedro de Macorís to Miches highway project in the Dominican Republic. In June 2021, the then-Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, stated that studies for the construction of the autovía would commence the following year.

Despite the timeline provided by the former official, the highway project remains unrealized. According to available reporting, the initiative has not progressed beyond announcements, leaving the proposed infrastructure connection still pending.
