Researchers from NOVA University Lisbon and the Dom Luiz Institute have published a study in the scientific journal Geoenergy proposing a method to store surplus energy generated by solar and wind sources. The research highlights the potential of utilizing energy stored within subsurface rocks to address one of the major challenges of the global energy transition: capturing and retaining renewable power when consumption is low.
