Falkland Islands: The Government is considering including fishing and other activities in the sanctions bill it will send to Congress

The Argentine government is currently drafting the National Sovereignty Defense Law, a legislative project intended to be sent to Congress. As part of this ongoing drafting process, official sources have confirmed that authorities are evaluating the inclusion of expanded sanctions targeting activities such as illegal fishing around the Malvinas.

The proposed legislation marks a broadening of punitive measures regarding the contested islands. While initial scopes focused primarily on defense, the newly considered additions aim to penalize unauthorized commercial and economic exploitation in the surrounding waters.
