Two Venezuelan brothers, Winder and Deivi, survived a 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Cali, Colombia, shortly after losing their mother, younger brother, and grandmother in a separate seismic disaster in La Guaira, Venezuela. The brothers had relocated to Colombia following the initial tragedy in their home country before experiencing the second event.

Separately, the family of Mónika Silva Koniuszek, a Polish activist found dead in Montañita, Ecuador, remains in a two-month wait to receive her remains. Her body is currently held in forensic custody, and the family has not been provided with a timeline for the release of the remains.
