On August 25, 1944, Lieutenant Amado Granell, a Spanish republican soldier, became the first Allied soldier to enter Paris following its liberation from Nazi occupation. Although the newspaper Libération featured a photograph of the event on its front page, the individual depicted was Granell rather than a French soldier as often presumed in historical records. This event highlights the role of Spanish republican fighters in the liberation of the French capital.
