La llegada de migrantes a costas de Europa cae un 39% respecto a 2025, si bien las muertes siguen aumentando

Data released by the International Organization for Migration on September 17, 2026, reveals that maritime migrant arrivals to Europe fell by 39 percent in the year up to that point compared to the same period in 2025. Nearly 60,000 migrants and refugees arrived by sea, down from approximately 98,000 the previous year.

Despite the significant drop in overall arrivals, fatalities along these maritime migration routes continued to rise. Within this regional context, Spain was identified as the third country with the highest volume of migrant arrivals.
