Poverty rose to 32.3% in the first half of the year and affected 15.5 million people

Argentina's national statistics institute, Indec, reported that the poverty rate rose to 32.3% during the first half of 2026, affecting approximately 15.5 million people across the country's main urban centers. The data also indicated that indigence reached 7.5% for the same period.

Following the release of the figures, Economy Minister Luis Caputo addressed the increase in poverty and indigence indicators. He emphasized that despite the rise during the first half of 2026, both levels remain below those recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
