The Moroccan press claims that the expulsion of the RTVE and EFE journalists was a measure of “reciprocity” for the restrictions imposed by Spain.

On Sunday, August 16, journalists from the Spanish state news agency EFE and public broadcaster RTVE were expelled from Castillejos, Morocco, while attempting to cover events. In response to the expulsions, Spanish press organizations, including the Federation of Associations of Journalists of Spain (FAPE) and the Madrid Press Association (APM), expressed solidarity with the affected reporters and demanded that Moroccan authorities allow them to resume their reporting.

Meanwhile, Moroccan media defended the decision by Rabat, describing the expulsion of the Spanish journalists as a strict application of the principle of reciprocity. According to Moroccan reports, the measure was taken in response to restrictions previously imposed by Spain.
