Flares, pitch invasion and mounted police: chaos at a German derby that ended with 85 injured

During a German Cup derby match between Waldhof Mannheim and Kaiserslautern, severe fan disturbances erupted, characterized by the launching of flares and a pitch invasion. Mounted police were deployed to manage the chaos, which resulted in a total of 85 reported injuries.

The clashes left 35 police officers wounded alongside dozens of football supporters who required medical attention. Authorities have subsequently opened an official investigation into the various offenses committed during the violent incidents at the stadium.
