Since the beginning of the war between Iran and the resulting closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Iraq's oil exports have dropped by more than 50%.

According to reports from Baghdad on August 8, the decline ranges between 50% and 56%. Prior to the conflict, the Strait of Hormuz served as the primary commercial route for these shipments.

This disruption severely impacts Iraq, which is recognized as the second largest producer within OPEC.
