Heavy rainfall in the Caribbean region and Talamanca area of Costa Rica has severely impacted the local cocoa industry in 2026. Certain cocoa farms have experienced production drops ranging from between 50% and 60%.
Local producers attribute these substantial declines to the loss of blossoms caused by the intense weather conditions. Additionally, the adverse weather has created operational challenges regarding the processing of the harvested grain.
