Scientists studying cockroach milk and nose-blowing win Ig Nobel prizes for quirky science

Ten research teams were honored at the annual Ig Nobel awards, a ceremony celebrating quirky and satirical scientific research. This year’s event marked a notable departure from tradition as it was hosted outside the United States for the first time.

Among the recognized studies were investigations into the properties of cockroach milk and the aerodynamics of nose-blowing. The latter award was presented posthumously to Japanese researcher Unno for his 1977 paper, which provided a detailed analysis of the mechanics involved in clearing one's nose.
