28 crew members freed from two vessels intercepted and sunk by the US on the high seas

Twenty-eight crew members have been released following the interception and sinking of two vessels by United States forces in international Pacific waters. The operation was conducted in coordination with the government of Ecuador.

The targeted vessels were allegedly linked to the criminal organization known as Los Choneros. The incident and subsequent release of the crew took place amid ongoing regional efforts to counter maritime trafficking associated with organized crime groups in the region.
