Likud lawmakers, ministers forbidden from running in regional primary slots, Likud court rules

The Likud party court has ruled that incumbent lawmakers and ministers are prohibited from running in regional primary slots. The decision blocks a controversial internal move that had been actively promoted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister Haim Katz, who serves as the chairman of the party’s Constitution Committee.

The blocked initiative had previously managed to secure approval by a narrow margin of just five votes. The ruling by the party's judicial body halts the implementation of these contested changes to the candidate selection process ahead of upcoming political developments within the ruling party.
