The first deportees from the United States arrive in Haiti

On Thursday, a group of more than 150 Haitian nationals were deported from the United States to Haiti. This marks the arrival of the first group of deportees following a recent decision by the United States administration not to renew the Temporary Protected Status for Haitian nationals.

As a result of the administration's policy change, more than 300,000 Haitians residing in the United States have transitioned to undocumented status, leaving them vulnerable to removal and setting the stage for further deportations.
