Iliyan Filipov, president of Bulgaria's oldest football club, is shot dead

Iliyan Filipov, the owner and president of Botev Plovdiv—noted as the oldest football team in Bulgaria and a first-division club—was shot and killed in the city of Plovdiv, located approximately 120 kilometers east of Sofia.

The fatal shooting has left Bulgarian football in a state of shock, according to sources who confirmed the incident to the EFE news agency.
