Two people are dead in Manizales and multiple buildings have collapsed in Cali following 7.4 earthquake in Colombia.

On Monday, a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia, with its epicenter located in San Jose del Palmar within the Choco province. The tremor prompted widespread evacuations as far away as the capital city of Bogota, causing serious structural damage, trapped residents, and numerous injuries across the region.

Casualty and damage reports varied significantly among initial accounts. Local reports indicated at least 21 deaths, including 18 in Pereira and three in Manizales, alongside building collapses in cities such as Cali and Manizales. Other wire reports initially cited at least 20 deaths or focused more broadly on structural collapses and injuries without final casualty totals.
