Magnitude 5.9 aftershock strikes Indonesia’s Flores as quake death toll rises to 53

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 struck Indonesia’s Flores region on Monday at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences. The seismic event was recorded as an aftershock following a larger magnitude 7.7 earthquake that impacted six regencies across the predominantly region two days prior.

In the wake of these seismic events, the confirmed death toll resulting from the disaster has risen to 53 fatalities.
