Maine Sen . Collins enlists ex - Democratic colleague Manchin in effort to highlight her independence

Maine U.S. Senator Collins has enlisted former Democratic colleague Joe Manchin in an effort to highlight her political independence. The bipartisan move is part of her strategy to fend off a political challenge from Democrat Troy Jackson, who previously served as the state Senate president.

The collaboration underscores Collins's ongoing efforts to project a moderate and independent image to voters in Maine as she faces a competitive electoral challenge from her Democratic opponent.
