Malaysia labour row puts Nepali jobs at risk

Malaysia has decided to channel the hiring of foreign workers through a select group of 25 principal agencies, prompting objections from Nepali officials and recruitment agencies. The policy shift has created a labour dispute that puts the employment prospects of Nepali workers at risk.

In response to the new regulations, officials and recruitment stakeholders in Kathmandu are calling for high-level bilateral talks with Kuala Lumpur to resolve the issue and address the constraints imposed by the restricted hiring framework.
