Malaysian under fire for cross-dressing at beauty pageant in Thailand

The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has announced it will summon a Malaysian participant for questioning following their cross-dressing appearance at the Miss Equality World 2026 beauty pageant held in Thailand.

The action by the religious authority follows the widespread circulation of social media posts depicting the individual's participation in the international event.
