NewzA 75-year-old man was arrested by deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Tuesday after they said he allegedly stabbed his wife while she was sleeping in bed at their home. Jail records show Pratapsinh Thakor is facing one count each of attempted felony murder causing injury and domestic battery causing harm. According to the arrest report, Thakor and the victim are married and live together.
Deputies said the incident happened at about 1 a.m. The location of their home was redacted from the publicly released report.Deputies said Thakor entered the bedroom he shares with the victim and stabbed her in the back while she slept. The victim woke up and begged him to stop, according to the report.The report states the victim was able to take the knife away from Thakor, but he then punched her multiple times.
She was able to get away and call 911, according to deputies. When deputies arrived, they found the victim outside the apartment. The report states that deputies spotted Thakor holding her by the hair.Deputies said the victim was taken to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital for further evaluation.
They said she suffered two lacerations to the left side of her back, a punctured lung, a laceration to her left arm and a bloody mouth.The report states Thakor “denied any involvement in the stabbing.” A motive for the stabbing remains unclear at this time.
