(Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: The Sandakan sessions court today sentenced a man to 21 years in prison and 25 strokes of the rotan after he pleaded guilty to raping his 15-year-old daughter.According to the facts of the case, the 50-year-old man raped his daughter when she was sleeping in the living room of their house in Batu 21, Sandakan, on March 1.The man beat his wife after she tried to stop him from raping their daughter. He was arrested after his daughter lodged a police report the following day, reported Berita Harian.Judge Roslinda Razali sentenced the man to 20 years in prison and 18 strokes of the cane for incestuous rape under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code.The man was also ordered to serve seven years in prison and given five strokes of the cane after he pleaded guilty to committing physical sexual assault against his daughter under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.Both sentences are to run concurrently from the date of the accused’s arrest.Roslinda also sentenced the accused to one year in prison and two strokes of the cane under Section 16(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for enhanced punishment when the offender is in a position of trust over the child.She ordered this sentence to run consecutively.
