Marathón secured a 2-1 victory against Génesis on Saturday, claiming the provisional leadership of the Honduran Apertura tournament during the fifth matchday. The team is managed by Argentine coach Silvio Rudman.

Concurrently, the reigning champion club Motagua celebrated its 98th anniversary with a victory during the same round of matches in Tegucigalpa.
