Assessment of school buildings for seismic vulnerability

Authorities are launching a comprehensive survey of educational infrastructure to assess seismic vulnerability across the country. Specifically, approximately 6,000 school facilities built prior to the implementation of the current seismic code will undergo evaluation to determine their earthquake resilience.

Many of the targeted buildings were constructed without prior soil studies. In total, the broader evaluation initiative will encompass around 8,000 educational infrastructures to address potential safety risks.
