This sudden influx has overwhelmed the city's infrastructure, which was not prepared to accommodate such a large number of arrivals in a short period.

The Moroccan government has maintained an official silence regarding the migration crisis. However, a newspaper closely aligned with King Mohammed VI has characterized the event by describing Ceuta and Melilla as "occupied" cities, framing the migration surge within the context of long-standing territorial disputes.
