Mass. becomes first state to launch chip-enabled EBT cards to combat benefit theft

Massachusetts is rolling out chip and tap-enabled Electronic Benefit Transfer cards statewide to combat benefit theft, making it the first state in the nation to do so, according to an announcement from the governor’s office.
