Mass. weather: Major nor’easter to pound coast with damaging winds, heavy rain and flooding

A large number of weather alerts have been issued as a strengthening nor’easter threatens heavy rains, flooding and tropical storm-like winds. A powerful nor’easter is expected to bring messy and potentially dangerous conditions to Massachusetts, with strong winds, heavy rain and coastal flooding forecast across the state.The worst conditions are expected along the eastern coast, especially on Cape Cod & the Islands, where forecasters warn of damaging wind gusts, beach erosion and repeated rounds of coastal flooding through Sunday.
