“They took my money and left”: Haitians in the Dominican Republic report extortion by immigration agents

Haitian nationals in the Dominican Republic have reported incidents of extortion involving migration agents during official operations, alleging that authorities forcibly took their money before leaving.

In response to these allegations, the Dirección General of Migración of the Dominican Republic stated that it enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding acts of corruption within its ranks.
