Medications for obesity and diabetes await ARS coverage

Innovative medications for the control of obesity and diabetes are currently awaiting effective coverage by healthcare administrators (ARS) in the Dominican Republic. Although these treatments were officially incorporated into the country's Basic Medication Formulary more than a year ago, patients still lack practical access to them through their health insurance plans.

The delay highlights a persistent gap between regulatory inclusion and the actual delivery of pharmaceutical benefits to patients requiring long-term management for obesity and diabetes conditions.
