Melbourne man arrested by passers-by after attempted carjacking with axe

A 29-year-old man was arrested by passers-by in Melbourne's north following an attempted carjacking involving an axe this morning.

Police reported that the incident occurred at the scene of an eight-vehicle collision, where the suspect allegedly attempted to steal a vehicle while armed before being detained by members of the public prior to law enforcement arrival.
